Time does not wait patiently,
a junkie that must move or
feel the past withdrawal
that makes history
set in stone.
We did not ask for this,
not you, not me or
the elephant in the
room that refused to
leave, hook prodded.
Circuses never over stay,
a packed main tent or
carney ride distmantled
everyone has paid
now get out town.
New Year rain splashes
along avenues, street's
tossed memories race
creek like out to the
floatsam of sea.
Piligrims hand-in-hand
we ride out a pandemic
with assumed stay-in-place
charm and alarms of
uncertain times.
